EMOCIONES Y MOVILIZACION SOCIAL: UN CUESTIONAMIENTO AL PARADIGMA RACIONALISTA
Résumé
We propose an evaluation of the role that emotions are playing in social mobilization, a focus that has been
developed during the last decade in EEUU, which is related with a strong criticism against the rationalist and
structural paradigm. We emphasized specifically two main debates: on the one hand, the role of emotions in
the protest cycles (the succession of mobilizing and demobilizing phases); on the other hand the strategic using
of emotions in the recruiting process. We also approach, through the Colombian case, the debate on high
risk mobilization and its emotional dimension: it has appeared very recently in the country, thus we propose
some research ways to explore.

Se propone un balance del rol que cumplen las emociones en la movilización social, enfoque que ha cobrado fuerza en la última década en EEUU, a raíz de un cuestionamiento al paradigma racionalista y estructuralista. Se ha enfatizado especialmente dos debates: por un lado, el rol de las emociones en los ciclos de protesta (sucesión de procesos de movilización y desmovilización); y por otro lado el uso estratégico de las emociones en los procesos de reclutamiento. Se propone también un acercamiento, a través del caso colombiano, al debate sobre la movilización de alto riesgo y su dimensión emocional: ese debate es aún incipiente en el país, por lo que se propone varias sendas de investigación a explorar.
