The French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA-Nairobi, website) promotes and supports research in the humanities and social sciences in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and Eastern DRC). It has a strong tradition of research in geography, political science, anthropology, history, sociolinguistics and opened up recently to archaeology.

IFRA MAMBO

Mambo! are IFRA-Nairobi’s working papers. They result from research in social sciences and the humanities in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda, eastern-DRC). IFRA MEMOIRES

The sub-collection IFRA-MEMOIRES gathers PhD thesis carried out in association with IFRA. These PhD thesis, defended in East Africa or in France from the 1990s, cover several themes and areas.
